Yes, it’s barely March and the ground is still frozen in many places. But it’s also the beginning of that time of year. You know what I’m talking about. When you hear the pitter patter of little feet, the heavy breathing, the uncontrollable excitement, and then the bursting open of those little gates holding all kinds of wiener goodness. Of course, I’m talking about Wiener Dog Racing!!
What can be more fun than watching those squiggly little bodies, impatiently waiting behind their gates, waiting to romp down the track to get those wonderfully, nummy treats. And in doing so, giving us humans something to cheer about, laugh about, and just generally feel good about.
If you haven’t been to a wiener race, what are you waiting for?? There’s no cruelty involved, unless you count keeping a sausage treat away from your sausage dog, oh, for about 5 minutes. Okay, those hot dogs might think it’s too long to wait, but they’ll forget all about it when they reach the end of the race. Or maybe I should say IF they reach the end of the race. So many of them seem to lose their way.
Love wieners and love to see them race? Then get yourself a Wiener Racing shirt, bag, or water bottle (or other goodies) and show your support for the four-legged sausage!
