Bagels & Cream Cheese

One thing I miss the  most about New York City is the food. Real bagels, NY Pizza, including Sicilian slices, and egg creams. Nobody gets egg creams unless you grew up drinking them. My husband looks at me like I’ve got a third eye growing out of my head whenever I mention these yummy chocolatey drinks.

So why all the reminiscing about New York food? Because that was what inspired my Beagles and Cream Chis design. In the shelter environment in the San Francisco Bay area, there are more Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas than any other breeds to be found. They are often referred to as Pits and Chis, and if you aren’t careful, you might accidentally say Chits and Pees. I digress. It was this term, Chis (pronounced cheese), that put the idea in my head for the Beagles and Cream Chis design.

See? Looking at the world with a different point of view can open you up to all kinds of ideas and possibilities. One great way to do so is to travel to new places and experience different cultures. Or stay home and meet people outside of your usual circle. Try a different type of food you’ve never had. Take a class in something you know nothing about. It’s a great way to learn something new and meet new people. There are so many opportunities outside your front door to experience new things that can inspire you, but you have to do it.

Other things from back east that inspired me? Coney Island!

Hot dogs anyone?
